End it now emphasis day is on the world church's Calendar of days and events and falls on
the fourth Sabbath of August. It is an initiative under the umbrella of women's ministries.
The initiative brings awareness to serious issues such as abuse against women and other major issues plaguing society and unfortunately our church community is not immune to it.
This year the focus is on abuse and neglect specifically of older adults (elderly).
According to the World Health Organization, abuse and neglect of older adults can be a single or a repeated act. It can occur in any relationship where there is an expectation of trust or where a person is in a position of power or authority.
This abuse can be physical (such as hitting), emotional, verbal (such as name calling, putting down), financial (such as taking money or property), sexual, or spiritual. Some types of abuse of older adults involve a violation of their rights. Financial abuse is probably the most common form of abuse of the elderly.
Unfortunately today religious people sometimes abuse their parents—sometimes intentionally,
sometimes without thought. We forget that God has asked us to honour our mother and father .
As mentioned in Proverbs, neglect also is abuse. This would involve not doing something,
such as providing the older person with food, shelter, medication, care, or meaningful and personal contact.
Many older adults experience more than one form of abuse and neglect. The perpetrators may be children, a spouse, or even grandchildren. But they also can include friends, neighbors, care providers, landlords,
or any individual in a position of power, trust, or authority.
Abuse can take place in the home, in a residential care setting (such as a nursing home), or in the community.
Let us be aware and examine ourselves first, check in with the older members of our churches, making sure that they have what they need. Let us speak to them with respect, in gentle tones, showing them love respect and lets honour them because they paved the way for us.
Please honour your mother and father!
Thank you and have a wonderful day!

Prayer: Is the channel of communication between our souls and God. God speaks to us through His word; we respond to Him through our prayers, and He always listens to us. We cannot weary or burden Him by our frequent heart to heart communications. Pr 3.2
We have come to serious times. Events in our world call upon every follower of Christ to be totally in earnest in our relationship with God. To strengthen this relationship and satisfy our emotional and spiritual needs, we must learn the power of prayer. We must plead with the Lord, like the disciples of old, saying, “Lord, teach us to pray.” Pr 3.3
That God is willing and ready to hear and to respond to our heartfelt prayers under all circumstances is profoundly reassuring. He is a loving Father who is interested both when things are going well and when the vicissitudes of life deal us devastating, tough, and terrible blows. When we feel like crying out, “God, where are You?” It is good to know that He is just a prayer away.

EXODUS - Quarterly Link
The God revealed in the book of Exodus is the loving Lord who at the appointed time—and with His mighty actions—brought salvation and deliverance to His people (Gen. 15:12–16). The exodus from Egypt and the crossing of the Red Sea were pivotal and unique events—God’s spectacular and marvelous acts.
No greater or more glorious event ever happened in the history of ancient Israel before the Cross.
It is the gospel, but according to Moses.
Though Moses plays an important role in Exodus, this book is not about Moses but about God—the God of love, truth, justice, freedom, and forgiveness, the God who ultimately went to the cross for us. By studying Exodus, we get a unique look at what our God is really like.
